It started raining last Monday and didn't really stop until today. Rainy season is here, albeit a month ahead of schedule. The farmers here in Iringa have El Nino to thank for that. For me, rainy season means the return of big clouds and dramatic high contrast lighting that I fell in love with last time I was in Tanzania.
Saturday morning, teacher and student took advantage of a break in the incessant rain to go for a walk along the river (which had come up five feet in three days and is now a raging muddy torrent). When you have school every day in the same room for six or seven hours, these kinds of breaks become quite necessary, I suppose. I tagged along to enjoy the company and to witness the earth coming back to life again.

This has nothing to do with this post...
After lunch when Cherith was clearing away the dishes, I caught her singing, "why am I so fixed on I? Maybe I am not what it's about..."
