Early Morning Trip

4:55am - woke up

5:00am - breakfast

5:20am - departed the Moyers' with Howard Fredrick and David Moyer.

5:30am - dropped David off at his airstrip on Kibebe Farm
(He & Howard are flying to Zambia, but they are carrying too much weight to both take off from David's bush strip at Kibebe)

5:35am - Howard & I depart for Ndule, and the Iringa Airport via Land Rover, where a much longer tarmac strip will provide the added distance needed for David to take off with Howard onboard.

6:15am - stopped at the top of the escarpment north of Iringa to take a photo

6:30am - arrive at Ndule

6:55am - David arrives

7:00am - Howard loads up, David talks with the tower
(tower = second story room above the staff mess hall)

7:10am - David & Howard depart for Mbeya on their way to do wildlife surveys and mapping in Zambia

8:06am - arrive back at Moyers' just as Katrina and Julia are starting school for the day.

I can't remember the last time that I got that much done before 8am!

Oh my goodness, my skin just goes crazy with goosebumps seeing all those beautiful pictures and imagining all the LIFE. I LOVE East Africa in the early morning. I'm SO happy for you two to get to be there and breathe all that glory in. Thank God for me, sometimes I forget to here...

Man, what an adventure. Cherith's sold on the zip line thing. I don't think the rest of the people in our suburb would go for that though...

Hi Paul,

I was actually just searching for items on my grandparents farm, and you - so far as Google tells - appear to have the only photo of Kibebe on the net. Weird seeing that, I think I passed the plane on a walk round the place last summer which included the airstrip.

Anyway, pleasing.
