Wanyama Katika Ruaha

Again, an excerpt from Paul's e-mail, courtesy of his dad:
Things are well, and I am continuing to love the place. Rather than telling you ALL the animals we saw in Ruaha, I will tell you the only ones that we DIDN'T. We didn't see a leopard or a cheetah or wild dogs or a rhino. Besides that, we saw virtually everything that the park has to offer. There was an extra special treat when we happened upon a bachelor herd of Greater Kudu bucks. Kudu antelope are rare in EA these days, and the herd we happened upon included two of the largest trophy bucks Dr. A has seen in years. They were about 30 yards away and stayed for about 30 minutes while we watched and took pictures. The animals are incredible, but even if they weren't here, the scenery would be worth it. Spectacular. 40% of Tanzania is undeveloped bush--incredible. I saw a Woodland Kingfisher and a Pied Kingfisher from our banda on the river in Ruaha. The pied Kingfisher is the only bird in Africa that hovers and then dives for prey! Pretty cool. Also saw a varity of Rollers (European and andother one i canb't remember) and a Fish Eagle (among others). Things are great here.
And to make all of us here in Western New York jealous:
The weather here is still premo... 50's at night... cool mornings and evenings and highs in the mid 70's to low 80's with a cool breeze.
Thanks, Paul. :)
