Hadithi wa Swira

On Tuesday morning, Katrina was walking up the hill to work. She was so thoroughly absorbed in the empanada that she was eating for breakfast that she failed to realize that the black PVC pipe on the trail was not in fact a black PVC pipe but a 10 foot-long spitting cobra! Thankfully something caught her attention (maybe the hood or glistening fangs?!) and she looked up in time to stop her stride 8 feet before running into the thing. Immediately, the snake turned around and headed off into the grass alongside the trail and Katrina continued to school, just like any other day, though not quite so absorbed with her empanada.

Paulo: I want to hear the story how it would have been if it was you instead of Katrina.

i would of beat it through the bush in the opposite direction at high speed of course. :-)

um, yeah. that's EXACTLY what you would have done, paul.

note that i didn't scream, jump, or freak out in any way.

i saved THAT reaction for later, when i saw a rat.

THAT is funny. You see, I would yell and scream as well, but at least I would properly do so at the venomous creature capable of killing me in minutes. (I should refrain from mentioning that my reaction would be the same to non-venomous snakes as well, for the sake of my pride...)

I'm so impressed at the not screaming or jumping up and down part!!! I can't say that I would have been able to do that...

Just think, soon you'll be back in the land where you don't have poisonous snakes to worry about, just deranged drivers, stupid deer, and annoying rodents...sorry you won't be able to get away from those here!
