I am continually amazed by the pace at which technology develops here in Tanzania. With some Christmas money from my family, we had the Laos bring out a new Nokia N70 cell phone when they visited over Christmas in the hopes that we could connect it to our computer and download email from home. Little did we know the change that this would bring to our lives. Not only can we connect and download email to our computers (anywhere, I might add, where we have cell reception, including while driving through the bush in the middle of nowhere), but we can surf and browse the internet at speeds rivaling my parents' dial-up connection in Pennsylvania. We can also use Katrina's new phone to check and send emails or chat with anyone on Skype without even connecting to a computer!!!
And apparently Tanzania has had this service in place for over a year!!! Where were we?!
We now pay about TSH 200/= (or $0.18) per MB to connect to the internet over our cell phone.

I'm so thankful that the issues with the accident are resolved. That's a huge answer to prayer...
The phone sounds fantastic! When it comes closer to time for Mark and I to come (assuming we get a grant) you'll have to let us know what to get so that we can do the email thing too :)
Technology is a little outstanding at times. Can we even do that in North America... probably but apparently I'm no longer the computer geek that knows how.
