For the first time since I was here in Tanzania in 2005, I picked up Henri Nouwen this morning. True to form, I was immediately struck in the face with words. Indeed, though these words are not written BY him, they are written ABOUT him and his legacy - an excerpt from his funeral eulogy, written by Sue Mosteller:
"Don't be afraid of your pain, choose to love when realtionships are difficult, choose to believe when hope is flagging, help each other, step through wounded and bitter feelings to be in union with one another, forgive each other from your hearts because God is near, calling each one of us, 'Beloved.' "
