Thanksgiving Weekend

For quite possibly the last time, our family ALL decorated our Christmas tree on Thursday night. Tonight (Friday) we put the Lionel trains up as well. Next year Katrina and I will be in Tanzania, beginning new traditions of our own. As much as I have grown to love family traditions, I can hardly wait to add some of our own. I look forward to making a home with the woman I love!

I miss decorating our house for Christmas with my mom. It's one of my favorite traditions. It's my first year being away from home for Christmas. I'm excited to be here, experiencing the Christmas traditions of the Japanese Church with people I have come to love dearly, but - wow - I really do miss home. :)
So, I hear you. And I think now I DO have a chance to add to my celebration of Jesus' birth a few things of my own. Like Advent. I never really new a whole lot about it until coming here. I wanted to talk about the Christmas season at the Bible study that I lead every 4th Sunday of the month (so today), and I learned a whole lot in the process - much of which I want to incorporate in my own worship of the Christ child. :)
love you Paul!

I definitely understand how you feel. I was feeling the same thing at our huge family thanksgiving dinner -- thinking how different this whole season will be next year when chuck and i are in australia. but you're right - it's cool to think about starting our own traditions!
