Homestay in Iringa
I am living in Iringa this weekend with Bahati Waziri. He is a primary school teacher at Ilundamatwe (just above Masumbo), but he has the week off, as he is applying to the Institute of Rural Development Planning in Dodoma, and wanted to study for his entrance exams...haha...anyway I guess he decided to take me in too! He rents two small rooms from an elder in the church which is where we are living. He is also taking classes in from the Open University of TZ and studying history and political science. Anyway, this guy is like a cultural and historical guru and knows SO much about the cultural heritage of TZ. I sat last night and read his history books from Dar and today he took me on a 4 hour walking tour of historical Iringatown. We then went to the public library and I read for an hour about the FRELIMO freedom fighters in Mozambique in the 1960's. Apparently the entire force grouped in Iringatown in the suburb where I am living before heading south to begin their guerilla war. This place has some incredible history!

so, i feel a little silly commenting on a blog that i, uh, usually update ;-), but just wanted to tell you that i love you in a form other than an e-mail. :-D just in case you do check your own blog once in a while!
someday i'm going to update something completely false and no one will ever know. mwahahaha.
Hey Paul! This is Jim. I'm not sure how often you get to read comments on your blog, but I just wanted to say that I hope you are having a great time in Tanzania! I've really enjoyed reading up on all your adventures from here on the east coast! Keep having fun, and maybe you'll get to tell me some of your stories in person after you are back stateside!
Cheers,
Jim
